The Sketch Comedy Writing Program at Reno Improv is a yearlong writing program consisting of four sessions. In Sessions 1 – 3, students will hone their sketch comedy writing skills by taking an in-depth look at character, story, stakes, point of view, voice, audience, tension, structure, etc. Also during these three sessions, students will be given various writing assignments and required to write one sketch/week. Sketches, along with copies for classmates as well as the instructor, MUST be printed out by the students prior to each class in preparation for a workshop-style critique.
Session 4 will be devoted to developing a full-length sketch comedy revue written by the students and performed by six actors (three men and three women) from the community who will audition for their spot in the cast. The revue will be approximately 60 minutes in length and run for four consecutive weeks at Reno Improv.
This writing program is limited to 8 students, and the cost for each session is $225/student (you can pay online via PayPal at PayPal.me/PayRenoImprov or in person with cash, check or credit card). PLEASE NOTE: this is a writing intensive program that requires a fair amount of time, energy and commitment.
